How much does a website cost in 2026?

Most small and medium businesses spend between $500 and $3,000 on a professionally built website. A simple landing page can cost a few hundred dollars, while an online store or a custom web application can run well into five figures. The calculator above gives you a range for your exact mix of pages and features; the table below shows typical starting points.

Typical website costs by project type
Project typeTypical cost (USD)Typical timeline
Landing page$250–$5001–2 weeks
Business website (5 pages)$500–$1,2002–4 weeks
Online store$1,200–$3,0004–8 weeks
Custom web application$2,500–$7,000+6–14 weeks

What changes the price of a website

Four things drive most of the cost:

  • Number of pages or screens. Each page needs layout, content and testing on mobile and desktop.
  • Functionality. Booking systems, payments, user accounts and integrations with your CRM or accounting software add development and testing time.
  • Design approach. Adapting a quality template is faster than designing every page from scratch.
  • Content. If you need text written, products uploaded or photos sourced, that is extra work, but it is often what makes a site actually sell.

Template or custom design?

A modern premium template, properly adapted with your colours, fonts and photography, looks professional and keeps costs down. It suits most service businesses, consultants and new stores. Custom design makes sense when your brand needs to stand out in a crowded market, or when your website has unusual layouts or user journeys that a template cannot handle well. Expect custom design to add roughly a third to the build cost.

Costs to budget for beyond the build

The build price is not the only cost of running a website. Plan for these as well:

  • Domain name: about $10–$20 a year for a .com.
  • Hosting: $5–$30 a month for most business sites; more for busy online stores.
  • Premium plugins or apps: some booking, form and store features carry yearly licences.
  • Business email: around $6 per user a month with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and security monitoring keep the site safe and fast.

How to get the most from your estimate

Start with the features you need on launch day and keep the rest for a second phase. A smaller first version goes live sooner, starts bringing in enquiries, and gives you real data about what your customers use. When you are ready, send me the estimate using the buttons above and I will reply with a fixed quote and a suggested plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is this estimate a fixed quote?

No. It is a planning range based on typical projects. Your exact price depends on details such as how much content you already have, which systems need to connect, and how many rounds of design changes you want. Send me your estimate and I’ll reply with a fixed quote, usually within one working day.

Why do website prices vary so much?

A website can be anything from a single page built on a template to a custom system with bookings, payments and integrations. Who builds it matters too: large agencies have higher overheads than an independent consultant, and offshore freelancers often charge less than local ones. Comparing quotes only makes sense when the scope is the same.

How long does it take to build a website?

A landing page usually takes one to two weeks, a business website two to six weeks, and an online store four to ten weeks. Custom web applications are typically six weeks or more. The most common cause of delay is waiting for content such as text, photos and product details, so preparing those early is the easiest way to launch sooner.

Do you work with clients outside Pakistan?

Yes. I build websites and software for businesses in Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and China as well as Pakistan, and I work with clients anywhere. My working hours overlap with the full UAE business day and most of the UK day, and quotes are in US dollars.

What should I prepare before asking for a quote?

A short description of your business, two or three websites you like, the pages you think you need, and any features such as booking or payments. If you have a logo, brand colours or existing content, mention that too. None of this needs to be perfect; it just helps me give you an accurate price.
